Dr. Ahmed Al Mutawa, Chairman of GFH Capital Limited, brings almost 34 years of financial and economic experience to the bank. With numerous papers appearing in international publications and journals, he is an established and respected researcher and economics academic.
Dr. Al Mutawa currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, and he has a wealth of experience in advising and consulting. He has served as a board member in some of the region’s largest and most reputable universities and organizations, namely Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Company (ADBIC), and Dubai University College among others.
He began his career as a teaching assistant at the UAE University, and went on to become a well-known professor and director at the University. He has also spoken and presented at a number of key finance and economics conferences throughout the region. Dr. Al Mutawa holds a PhD in Economics from Georgetown University, Washington DC, and a Masters degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina, USA. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from Cairo University in Egypt.
Mr. Mosabah Al Mutairy, Vice Chairman of GFH Capital, brings extensive financial expertise amassed throughout his 17 -year career in the fields of investment, finance, and accounting. He is currently a member of several boards across different organizations including the Investment Committee of Royal Guard of Oman Pension Fund where he plays a pivotal role in managing funds. He is also a member of the Board of Directors at the Hotels Management Co. Int and Dhofar Power Company, India Entertainment City, and Mena Resident among others.
Mr. Al Mutairy currently holds a Master of Business Administration degree (Finance) from the University Of Humberside & Lincolnshire and a Bachelors degree in Accounting from South West London College, UK. In addition, he holds several internationally recognized Accounting qualifications.
Hisham Al Rayes is the Chief Executive Officer as well as the member of the Board of Directors of GFH Financial Group, one of the regional leading financial groups with USD 6.2 billion assets and fund under management and shares listed in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dubai and Kuwait.
In 2012, Mr. Al Rayes assumed leadership of the firm with an objective to establish a diverse and well-recognized regional financial group offering a remarkable platform for Wealth Management, Real Estate, Commercial Banking and Asset Management.
Prior to his role as the Group’s CEO, Mr. Al Rayes was GFH’s Chief Investment Officer during which he was responsible for driving the development and execution of its regional and international investment strategy along with management of the bank’s liabilities.
Before joining the group in 2007, Mr. Al Rayes was part of the senior management team of the Bank of Bahrain & Kuwait (‘BBK’), a leading commercial bank in the Kingdom of Bahrain. During his tenure at BBK, Mr. Al Rayes was responsible for a number of key projects and new venture initiatives. These included establishing one of the bank’s key subsidiaries, as well as developing BBK’s e-Banking platform.
Al Rayes is the Chairman of Balexco, Gulf Holding Company and hold directorship in GFH Financial Group, Khaleeji Commercial Bank, Falcon Cement Company and GFH Capital. Mr. Al Rayes holds a Masters degree with Honors in Business Administration from the University of DePaul, Chicago (USA), and a Bachelors degree in Engineering with Honors from the University of Bahrain.
Mr. Mohammed Ameen currently serves as the Chief Administration Officer in GFH B.S.C. He plans, leads, and controls the day-to-day back office activities of GFH, and is responsible for directing the back office strategy. Mr. Mohammed also manages corporate functions, including Human Resources, Administration, Operations, Fund Administration, IT, Corporate Communications, and other administrative corporate functions as required. His responsibilities include contributing to the strategic development of GFH’s operations.
Mr. Mohammed Ameen is a seasoned banker and a management professional with more than 30 years of experience in financial markets in both conventional and Islamic banking and investment sectors. Prior to his appointment at GFH, Mr. Mohammed Ameen was leading the Quality Assurance Department at Investcorp in Bahrain, where he was responsible for the implementation of the new quality assurance system, as well as streamlining the department’s daily activities. Prior to Investcorp, Mr. Mohammed Ameen served as Vice President and Unit Head in the Product Processing Division at Gulf International Bank, where he covered all areas of the bank’s operational activities, including money markets, foreign exchange, marketable securities, derivatives processing, loans and contingents unit encompassing, and trade finance support among others.
Mr. Mohammed Ameen is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in the UK. He is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in the UK. In addition, Mr. Mohammed completed the Gulf Executive Development Programme at the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia in the USA.
Appointed as Board Member, Mr. Yousef Al Ghanim brings to GFH Capital over 7 years of experience in business management and investment fields. Mr. Al Ghanim is currently a Managing Partner in Gatelink Communication Company in Kuwait, where he is responsible of managing the daily operations of the company’s different business lines, while ensuring the best returns for the company and shareholders. Furthermore, Mr. Al Ghanim is holding the position of a Deputy General Manager for Investment & Development in Alam Al Mesila General Trading Company, where his main responsibility is to develop and manage a pool of verticals in accordance with the company’s main business line while ensuring the best possible returns.
Previously in 2007 until 2010, Mr. Al Ghanim held a position of Relationship Officer at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (Kuwait). Mr. Al Ghanim holds a certificate in Credit Management from the Institute of Banking Studies in Kuwait and a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Kuwait University.
